Marriage Preparation Catechesis Program

The Marriage Preparation Program is offered to registered and participating members of St. Anne Parish who are marrying at St. Anne Church or elsewhere. It is approved by the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and the state of Texas.

The program includes:

• Initial marriage information meeting
• FOCCUS questionnaire and discussion of results
• Attendance at the classes – offered over a weekend
• Final meeting to complete paperwork

  • How to begin?

    Once you are engaged, call the church to determine availability of dates for a wedding and marriage preparation.

  • How long in advance?

    At least six months to one year before the date you wish to be married.

  • Do I have to be Confirmed?

    No. But, the church does ask that you are open to being confirmed.

  • Do we have to promise to raise our children in the Catholic faith?

    The Catholic parent is asked to do all in his/her power to baptize and raise children in the Catholic Church.

  • My future spouse is not Catholic, can we be married in the Catholic Church?

    St. Anne Parish welcomes you and your future spouse.

  • One of us has been married before, can we be married in the Church?

    Any previous marriage (Catholic or non-Catholic) is a potential obstacle to marriage in the Catholic Church. Please call the church offices to address your situation.

  • We are being married in my hometown. Can we do our preparations at St. Anne?

    Yes, you will are able to do the preparation at St. Anne and your information will be forwarded to the church where you will be married.

  • Who can be married at St. Anne?

    Any parishioner who is registered or lives within the parish boundaries and has been participating and contributing to the Parish for six months prior to setting a date for the sacrament.
