Baptism

BaptismBaptism is the beginning of your child’s life in Christ and in the Church. Through this sacrament, your child is welcomed into the Catholic faith, freed from sin, and called to grow as a disciple of Jesus. Parents present their child for Baptism with the sincere intention of raising him or her in the practice of the Catholic faith.

If married, the Godparent must be in a valid Catholic marriage recognized by the Church.

A baptized non-Catholic Christian may serve as a Christian witness alongside one Catholic Godparent.

A Catholic may not serve as a Christian Witness.

Baptismal Certificate Information

Please note that names on the baptismal certificate are recorded exactly as they appear on the child’s birth certificate. This includes the use of the mother’s maiden name if it is listed on the birth certificate.

This is the standard practice for maintaining accurate sacramental records in the Catholic Church.

We look forward to celebrating this special moment with your family as your child begins their life in Christ.
